It's looking back...

May 6th, 2010

Here, briefly @ 11:39 am

The count is, 8 days from turning 33, 3 days from a Pearl Jam show, 4 days from as close as I can get to a hometown PJ show. Things are starting to happen. In Highland Park the lilacs are blooming, although the official start to the Lilac Festival isn't until my birthday (some years they just can't get synched.) I'm ready to see these shows and have a fun time but when it's all over, I definitely need to get motivated to find a new job. So, things are up and down, but mostly on the level.

Oh, but I have to include this link because it proves something that I've said. Since about 1974, "dude" is universal:

Dude. That is a pretty sweet article! :)

I've got 4 days until I'm no longer in my twenties, and no shows at all.

Hope you're birthday's a good one! And I know the shows will be great. :)

I haven't! I saw your FB nod to it. Is it on their site? I've been all about the MGMT lately, and some other folks.

It is on their site! You just go to Pearljam.com. I was totally skeptical aobut it too, but since just yesterday I've heard some amazing stuff. The funny thing is that I just got some Band of Horses to prepare for the shows. I like MGMT's first album, I've listened to it a lot but not so much lately, lately I've been all about Sonic Youth, mostly Washing Machine and Rather Ripped.

I think Rather Ripped is a great album and under-rated. but i love SY. :) I need to check out Band of Horses - I only know a couple songs. Any thing in particular you recommend by them?

I didn't realize until I heard their second album today that I had heard a song of theirs, "Our Swords" on the Nick and Norah soundtrack. That song's pretty good. I'm also liking "Is There a Ghost" and "The General Specific" from their first album. I've listened to each album all of twice, so I'm not too deep into it.

Cool - I will check them out.

By the way, which PJ communities/forums are you active on? TS (trading stories) has been pretty dead lately, and I miss having a community to talk about PJ! Thanks.

I have to confess, I haven't really been active in anything online lately.

I've never really listened to a lot of Sonic Youth to be honest. Just haven't sought them out. I can share the new MGMT if you're interested.

I'll check out PJ radio, and maybe plug SY into lala.com.

Well, p until very recently I have to confess that the only SY I've really heard is one song, "Diamond Sea." I didn't even see them when they opened for PJ at the Saratoga show I saw in 2000! But I've been enjoying what I've heard lately.

The new MGMT? I...wouldn't mind it...
